This packet of information was provided by Claude Warren to city and county officials at a site visit on July 16, 1988. This site visit was in response to plans from Boyle Engineering Corporation to build a detention basin for the city. Boyle had been provided inaccurate maps and their proposed construction would impact important archaeological and historic sites at Big Springs. The city had two options: change the detention basin plans or conduct archaeological data recovery to salvage artifacts and record sitess as thoroughly as possible. Despite being more costly, the city chose to modify the plans for the detention basin. This packet includes a list of findings by test unit, a plan view of hearths, profile and plan views of the excavation in the historic house, a letter to the City of Las Vegas from Boyle Engineering Corporation, and a letter from the Las Vegas Valley Water District to Claude Warren. |
